Hey all! So it’s been a few weeks, but I had a perfectly excellent reason!
I think I’ve mentioned before that I went back to school? Well I was finishing my thesis and I got it turned in and presented!! YAY! I nearly killed myself doing it, but it was awesome, and I passed, so I will be officially graduating on May 20. If you would like to read it, you can find it here: A Perfect Fifth, The Perfect Side: Music Enhancing the Dining Experience
Then my body decided I’d put it through enough abuse (no sleep and too much stress and RedBull) and decided to fight back. What I thought was a hangover from my celebratory dinner turned into a headache that lasted 3 days…and on the third day got so bad I fainted. Went to the doctor to find out it was a most killer migraine and was informed there was nothing I could really do at that point but receive a very undignified shot of steroids in my butt cheek and take some vicodin. Nice.
Recovered from that, and ran the Color Run on the Sunday after that (I’ll get back to that in a second) and the spent the next few days trying to get back into a schedule with work and stuff. Got through a small bout of food poisoning and today I finally felt like writing again for the first time. (Hey, if you had written a 30 page thesis and then felt like writing a blog post right afterwards, more power to you, but I could NOT muster the motivation!)
So I mentioned the Color Run! It was so awesome!
I ended up having to run by myself unfortunately, but I still had a great time. The Color Run was a 5K charity run and at each km they throw this colored powder at you!
Everyone dresses in white so that you can experience the color!
Even the starting line balloons were white!
Coming up on a kilometer marker!!
A cloud of color!!
Coming up to the finish line – and you can see the cloud from the finisher party!!
And my finish line pic! From FinisherPix.com
YAY!
Everyone partying in the colorific mess:
And so you can see some contrast…
PS. That pink color powder? Well the color throwers were supposed to be avoiding the face, but this one girl came out and threw a GIANT handful of it right in my face in an upward direction. It was in my nose, my mouth, my eyes, my ears, my bra, my undies, my shoes, between my toes, EVERYWHERE. My skin was stained hot pink for almost 5 days, and I had hot pink boogers for 3 days. So girl…whoever you are…good job avoiding the face…
If you’re in the SoCal-ish area and you’re up to driving, Color Run is actually doing another event in San Diego in November!
