We are sorry to interrupt your regularly scheduled programming (aka part two of Foodbuzz) but we have some breaking news!
Remember how I posted about how excited I was about the ButterMilk Truck? Well they launched last night, and it seemed like a success! D and I got there a little after 9pm and there was a HUGE line. When a gal came through at around 10:45 saying they were going to stop serving at 11 and I’d only moved about 3 feet, me and the other people around me in line almost rioted. I started despairingly tweeting about how I wasn’t going to make it through the line! Luckily I think it was either a ploy to thin out the line, or they realized that it would be really unwise of them to keep all the people who had been waiting for over an hour from eating their food and I finally got to order after midnight.

Normally (and I tweeted this last night too) I don’t DO lines. But this was definitely worth it. We ordered the buttermilk red velvet chocolate chip pancake bites, the buttermilk biscuit breakfast sandwich, the fried chicken with housemade cinnamon waffles, and the mysterious buttermilk brick.
Let’s start with the chicken and waffles. Now, I can’t say that this was bad, it was definitely a valiant and somewhat tasty attempt. But I also live within walking distance of a Roscoe’s. Not bad, but not great either.

Then the red velvet chocolate chip pancake bites. Might I say, “Wow!” These were delicious! Red velvet batter, perfectly cooked, dotted with sweet chocolate chips, a sprinkling of confectioner’s sugar, and a side of cream cheese frosting. They smelled absolutely amazing every time someone walked by with them as I was waiting in line, and these did NOT disappoint.

The buttermilk biscuit is served on a housemade buttermilk biscuit with cheese and fried egg, and it comes with your choice of applewood smoked bacon, tocino, or chicken apple sausage. I love bacon, so I ordered it with bacon, and for an extra $.50 you can add a side of rosemary garlic hashbrowns. Got those too. This was also definitely worth the wait. The egg was nice and runny, the bacon nice and crispy, the cheese nice and gooey. The hashbrowns? Rosemary is a touch I NEVER would have thought of, but it was PERFECT.

And the moment you’ve all been waiting for. What is the Buttermilk Brick? It is a pile of nommy hashbrowns, topped with runny fried egg, with a buttermilk biscuit and smothered with a mouth watering gravy. I ate this and nearly peed myself it was that good. Yeah. Um, f***ing delicious. I could have had another, it was THAT good.

And of course, the obligatory picture of me stuffing my face:

Buttermilk truck, I’m glad I waited in line for you, and I am proud to call you a commissary buddy!
