Pubby Wubby!

17 Jun

So if y’all like pub food, I’d heard that Lucky Baldwin’s was the place to be. I’d never been even though both of the two locations are reasonably reached from my house by car. –What did I just write?!– What I mean to say, is that they’re both less than a 10 minute drive yet (in fact the one in Old Town is within walking distance if I wasn’t so lazy), yet I’d never been to either.

I headed over to the Old Town Pasadena location with Lorie and Jen, and Lorie’s friend Johnny. Lorie, Johnny, and I were STARVING, so we ordered food. I don’t know much about beers, but they seem to have a pretty good selection. They are also running an IPA festival right now through the 21st. (Although according to a tweet from today from @foodgps, they’ve already blown half of the 60 kegs that they had brought in for this event.) As far as food, it seems to be sort of standard pub food.

Johnny had the bangers and mash, which he said was really good. He’s a Lucky Baldwin’s frequenter, and he says the bangers and mash are his fav thing on the menu:

Lorie had fish and chips:

I had the french dip which was pretty good:

They’ve got small inside seating area, but the ambiance is better outside on the patio. They pull a TV out there so you can still watch whatever game is consuming people at the moment. Its a good place to hang out when you’re trying to avoid the trendier nightlife in Pasadena like the happenings at Menage or somewhere else like that.

Afterwards we decided we weren’t ready to go home so we headed over to have drinks at Dullahan’s, which up until fairly recently was a different bar that I can’t remember the name of right now. You can find it on Fair Oaks.

Lorie and Johnny:

Me (with the goober face on) and Jen:

They’ve got booths inside and when we got there there was some dancing going on in the middle of the floor. We headed out to the patio (there’s an outside bar) and had a couple drinks and watched the silly drunk people. Not a bad spot, the drinks are kinda pricey for the size, but that seems to be a bar trend.
